Rural Countryside Tour
Our Rural Countryside tour offers you a look inside life in rural Mexico. Our air-conditioned van picks you up at your hotel and heads north east to Ixtapa, the first farmland community just outside of Puerto Vallarta.
At one time Ixtapa was actually a much larger town than Puerto Vallarta. Just outside of Ixtapa was the land owned by the Montgomery Fruit Company, a major exporter of bananas from 1924 to 1935.
The area is also known for the archaeological digs sponsored by the Centro Universitario de la Costa. Led by investigator Dr. Joseph Mountjoy, the area is believed to have been settled as early as 600 B.C. Ixtapa continues to function primarily as an agricultural and farming center. As part of our tour, we stop by the university to view these archaeological finds and visit Ixtapas local church.
Along the way to Las Palmas we will stop in the small farming village of El Canton.
We’ll then visit the town of Las Palmas to tour this small town’s plaza, church and manta clothing store.
Our final stop will be lunch at Mi Rancho, a typical Mexican rural hacienda.
